In a pursuit of peace, security and happiness we often find ourselves in an ever changing world where better is not good enough and competition becomes a measure of how established we are. Things changes as fashion comes and goes, some of which we can control and some just like the seasons are above our control. As change will happens regardless of where we are I have learned that it is not so much about what changes but how we respond to the change that happens around us. Many of us today are moved by what happens around us, mostly material things, as such we make decision to fit in the society rather than reflecting who we really are. For this reasons our personality does not hold when tested because within us there is no foundation which hold us together as our characters are based on what other people think or how the world have shaped us. It is in this note that we realize that Christians has been moved from east to west or south to north as much as the wave of this world takes us because our foundation is not as Christ Jesus our lord has prescribe or showed us(His example).
It was never His intention that our impact to the world become seasonal and for that reason Paul encourages Timothy that in season and out of season he must be prepared to bear fruits. We must remember the fig tree which was cursed by our Lord for not having fruits though it was not its time, as somehow this illustrate to us that as Christians we are not to be bound by the rules of this world because with Christ whether it is summer, winter, spring our saltiness and light should not be questioned at any time.
The impact of our lives to those around us should not be of a season or controlled by what happens around us, just like to what the fashion and the trends of the world does. We must be depend to Christ our Lord who never changes, yesterday, today and forever for His promises remains and are fulfilled as not a word that he said will fall away but all shall come to pass. Let this be forever in our minds and heart that we are not to be influenced by the world but to show the light where there is darkness: Psalm 1: Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
